The Evolution, The Gap & The Agency Built On Marketing Pedigree To Fill It.
The Australian online advertising market reached $18.4 billion in 2025, with Sydney firmly positioned at the centre of it. Yet despite the industry’s accelerating embrace of artificial intelligence (AI), not a single agency at scale within this city operates as a truly AI-native partner. The gap represents the most significant commercial shift in Australian marketing since the rise of social media itself, a transition Flâneur Perspective Founder, Keith Scriven spent more than a decade helping shape from the front line.
Over a 12-year career building and scaling a successful social media marketing agency through to acquisition, Keith worked across some of the world’s most recognised brands spanning FMCG, travel, hospitality, banking and technology among others. From global enterprises to category leaders, the through-line remained consistent: understanding digital consumer behaviour before the wider market catches up to it.
That experience now informs the foundation of Flâneur Perspective. An agency built not simply around the adoption of AI tools, but around a deeper structural understanding of how marketing, culture, creativity and consumer attention are evolving simultaneously.
Where many agencies are retrofitting AI into legacy operating models, Flâneur Perspective was designed from inception around the hybrid art of cinematic brand storytelling, behavioural insight and generative AI content engineering. A modern agency shaped by refined curiosity, deeply attuned to cultural nuance, aesthetic expectation and the systems increasingly governing digital attention.
As mentioned above, the Australian online advertising market reached $18.4 billion in calendar year 2025, an 11.5% year-on-year increase, according to the IAB Australia Internet Advertising Revenue Report prepared by PwC and released in March 2026. Video advertising grew 19.8% to $5.4 billion. Search hit $8 billion. Social media accounted for 17% of the total. The December quarter alone delivered $4.9 billion in spend, up 14.4% on the prior year.
Sydney sits at the centre of this market. It is the headquarters location for most of the major media holding groups, the seat of the largest independent agencies, and the address most Australian brands go to when they need senior marketing capability. And yet, in May 2026, not a single agency at scale in this city operates as a genuinely AI-native marketing partner. The largest shops have AI tools. Several have AI practices. A handful have appointed Chiefs of AI, but none of them have rebuilt their operating model around what AI now makes possible.
This is why Flâneur Perspective was born.
The gap between what Australian brands need and what Sydney agencies can credibly deliver is the largest commercial opportunity in Australian marketing since the shift to social media a decade ago. Conservatively, the value of that gap is north of $500 million in misallocated, underperforming, or unrealised marketing spend across the Australian market each year.
The agency model that fits the 2026 to 2030 Australian market is structurally different from what currently exists at scale in Sydney and the brands that move first to AI-native partners like Flâneur Perspective will set the category benchmarks. The brands that wait for their existing agency to figure it out will be paying premium fees for declining performance throughout the transition.
Flâneur Perspective is not just an answer to this evolved marketing direction, but the opportunity for brave brands to gain significant headway against their competitors.
That is the clear direction of the now and why this is the moment to build through partnership with Flâneur Perspective.
